2008 NSW Seahorse Ball-16th August. The Glamour Ball of 2008!
This year's Seahorse Ball, to be held on 16th August, stars the multi-award winning vocalist and entertainer, Lisa Crouch.Come and enjoy an evening of wining, dining, dancing and entertainment in an atmosphere of friendship and complete relaxation.The evening includes pre-dinner drinks and canapés in the foyer, followed by a three-course table service dinner.
There will be music, dancing, a live band, entertainment and a stage show, all served up in the beautifully decorated main Ballroom of one of Sydney's major international hotels, the Mecure Hotel, Sydney Airport.
This is a night where over-dressing is never too much! Let your imagination run wild! Dust off your wardrobe... trawl the op-shops... get to work and design yourself the outfit that will stun the Nation!

Upstart Alley 6-Sat May 3 2008- Upstart Alley brings you their numero 6 show! Once again mixing it up cabaret style! With a range of performances including dirty shenanigans from superhost Wife (Syd), racey rhymes form Melbourne’s very own femcee, emcee pash and readings and words from Bryan Andy, Jaun Lamas (Syd), and Maria Zajkowski who will be reading pieces based around scarring moments, choices, experiences, encounters, loves cos some wounds leave their mark. Next, hold onto your socks as the Transylvanian Gypsy Kings rock em off with the latest horas from Bucharest, traditional boys dances where they slap themselves, and hit pop songs from non-stop Romanian bars! Then party til’ yr pants fall off as the Evelyn has a 3am license and we have two of Melbourne’s finest DJs Toupee and Kapitolina for your enjoyment.
Upstarters are committed to making their events as accessible as possible. To this end we keep our event prices as low as we can go, work with fully wheelchair accessible venues, with gender neutral toilets and have introduced auslan interpreters for this event. After what seems an eternity, sometimes Seahorse catwalk model Amanda Monroe and her very own troupe of now international Drag Queens are back! Sadly, no, PINK has not re-opened, but you can catch them at the Mebourne International Comedy Festival with thier hillarious adaptation of the stage show and movie, “GREASE”.
.Watching the show evolve at PINK over many months, I’d give them both 10 out of 5!Venue- Le Cascadeur at Federation Square from the 20th March through to the 13th of April.

The Vagina Monologues-Saturday 16th February-Trades Hall
A production of the Vagina Monologues will be held on Saturday 16th February at the new council chambers Trades Hall crn Victoria & Lygon Street Carlton Cost $25.00 / concession $15.00.
The show hopes to raise awareness and funds for local organisations working to end violence against women and girls.Two of our Seahorse girls are in the production so there is no excuse to stay at home! So come on girls, lets give our sisters and a great cause our support by going along on the 16th.

Chris Goodall will be appearing at Deelish in Smith St, Collingwood to raise money for the Gender Identity Support Groups proposed “Gender Centre”. For the cheap price of $35.00, you not only get to see the Chris Goodall show, but also a three course meal, and of course, the pleasure of good company. But wait- there’s more – along with the show and three course meal, you will be the proud owner of that warm fuzzy feeling associated with doing something good for our community. TransMen TransLated- Tues 15th January-Sat 2nd February.
.A cross-media exhibition exploring the female to male transition experience. Featuring the documentary ‘I like to take out the trash’ by Wednesday. Melbourne performer Jez Wiggins reveals pre- and post-transition experiences. The exhibition also includes a photographic wall of images shared by members of the f2m andtransgendered butch community. We will be meeting at Monroes in Fitzroy St between 1.00pm and 2.30pm for pre march drinks and chat.
There is free secure parking behind the restaraunt so be early if you want to get a nice spot, but don’t despair if you miss out as there is a pay and display carpark right next door.
If you can’t make it to Monroes we will be assembling at the corner of Lakeside Dr & Fitzroy St (MELWAYS: 2N J5 & K5) from 3pm until the march starts at 5pm. If you arrive and can’t find anyone, check the Elephant and Wheelbarrow hotel directly opposite on Fitzroy Street, and you will most likely bump into a few Seahorse girls having a quiet? drink! After we’ve strolled down Fitzroy St to the Catani Gardens, there will be a concert and each Party until 10.30pm along with food stalls, bars and great entertainment.

Transgender Headquarters-Gasworks Arts Park-Several trans related events are being held at the Gasworks Arts Park in Albert Park as part of Midsumma 2008 so join in and show your support.
TransDestinations Symposium-Sun 27th Jan, 11am till late -A two-day trans* celebration.
Held at Gasworks Arts Park over one day and two nights, Transdestinations surveys the current state of play and future possibilities for trans-connected communities. It includes forums and workshops covering health and wellbeing, social justice and equity, and arts programming including spoken word, performance, music, visual arts exhibitions. The event features artists, activists, facilitators and guests from across Australia. Transdestinations explores where the transgender and trans-connected communities are today, where we have come from and what lies ahead.
Professional development opportunities and skills workshops sit alongside performance, social networking, broad discussion and exhibitions that portray the vibrancy and unique perspectives of this diverse and multiply connected community.
