VicGender - VicGender offers social and practical support for people going through a permanent change from male to female or female to male. In many cases, the term "change" may not be the best as we are affirming on the outside who we always have been on the inside. Some of our group identify as Transsexual or Transgendered, while others avoid labels altogether.
Our aim is practical rather than political - we arrange social gatherings and help with such issues as getting medical information and referrals and finding where to live. Social support is very important in a community where our survival often depends upon us realising that we are not alone.
Membership of VicGender is open to people who are undergoing or have been through a gender transition, and to partners and friends of the community with approval of the VicGender committee.
We run monthly meetings, which are usually at the home of a VicGender committee member. Meeting usually are lots of fun and often include sushi, cakes, and chocolate. Both formal and informal social nights are also held on a regular basis.
